Waiting for food

The strawberries have put on a lot of fruit and are just starting to blush.  Dylan rigged up a little protective tent made from the leftover dog-fence to keep the birds out. These were "left-behind" plants from a previous gardener so anything I get from them will be pretty exciting.

I had to go back and tighten my florida weave a little after the rains but so far so good.  My first rows of beans (golden wax and blue lake) are sprouting and I planted a long row of french filet beans yesterday.  So far not much luck with the cucumbers, I may be planting them too early. Melon seedlings also went in yesterday and I spread more compost.  Below: Dylan and Henry enjoy evening on the porch while I putter in the front garden.
