Redbuds and Wild Violets
The community garden is located on a farm that has been turned into a nature center. I've started volunteering as a nature guide for school field trips about once a month as a way to learn more about the environment in Maryland. It is a really beautiful place with historic barns, cultivated gardens, and areas that are being transitioned back to grassland and woodland habitats. Dylan and I also like to visit the goats, chickens, and Ranger, the education owl.
Red buds in bloom.
People get married in this barn almost every weekend.
Clumps of wild violets are all over the fields and lawn. I don't know if they are native but they seem to have adapted very well.
