I started my greens first, especially the cold weather ones like Spinach and Corn Salad.

2012 Greens:

  • Spinach, Bloomsdale Longstanding - oldest plants are getting their second set of leaves, we’ll see how “longstanding” it is if it gets much hotter.
  • Dutch Corn Salad or Mache - isn’t growing as fast as the spinach
  • Butterhead lettuce “speckles” - even the first leaves have little red speckles!
  • Bib Butterhead lettuce
  • Red Sails Leaf Lettuce
  • Henderson’s Black Seeded Simpson Lettuce - slow to come up but good germination
  • Red Romaine
  • Petit Rouge Leaf lettuce

The Spinach and Corn Salad are Baker Creek 2012 and the Red Romaine and Petit Rouge are Baker Creek 2011. I think the red romaine was the “free gift.” The other lettuce seeds came from Mom and could be a year or two old.
