First Snow

I realize our neighbor's extensive garbage can collection isn't exactly "quaint New England" but I was not going outside in that mess for a better shot.  I'll wait until it starts sticking to get excited.  Some of the green tomatoes are still slowly ripening in a box but I chopped up the really crunchy ones and made pickle relish.  I think it turned out quite nicely. It doesn't taste like tomato, has good texture, and isn't as sweet as store bought relish. Now that garden preservation is complete, onward to bitter marmalade and fruit cake!

Last weekend Dylan and I kicked off the 5 Year Wedding Anniversary Celebration with a little exploring, checked out a new pub, got "drinking chocolate," and walked all over Cambridge.  It is a lot of fun to look at all the old houses and the way they have (and haven't) been updated and or modified over the years. This weekend we will probably go out for a nice dinner and maybe go buy some celebratory sausage at the German market - why only celebrate one day a year?

I would also like to show off one of the nicest things I've ever made for myself - a custom fit flannel shirt.  I used the "archer" pattern from Grainline and the skills from my shirt class at Gather Here.  It is so soft and fits perfectly (no button gapping) and I am trying not to wear it every day.
