Almost October Beans
This morning Dylan and I sat on the porch and shelled our tiny harvest of October beans. We've never tried them before, but the seeds were on sale for $1. These beans are also sometimes called horticultural beans, shellies, or cranberry beans. You are supposed to harvest them when the beans are big, but not dried out. Now they are simmering on the stove with a bay leave, garlic and a bit of parmesan rind. For lunch we're having pasta e fagioli or "fazool".
I'm proud of the crazy crib quilt I just finished for my future niece or nephew, but the best part is that the baby hasn't even been born yet. I am so ahead of schedule!
